Wave Related

Have you ever wondered whether waves are related to one another? If there is some sort of family tree of waves, or a taxonomy of barrels? While it’s easy to compare two different surf spots based on similar characteristics, it would be more difficult to tell which is the standard that all others should be measured by. Is Macaroni’s measured by Pipe?—or Pipe measured by Macaroni’s?

What if all the world-class waves we obsess over in our daily lives are actually just faint shadows of an undiscovered wave, the one, true, perfect break, the standard, the alpha and omega, the singularity, the source, the measuring rod for all other waves…and what if that true Wave is in Antarctica?
